About
Gaitore Ki Chhatriyan
The royal cenotaphs (chhatriyas) of the Jaipur kings — an offbeat yet fascinating heritage site featuring stunning marble pavilions and intricate carvings in a serene, uncrowded setting.
Gaitore is the traditional cremation ground of the Jaipur royal family. The white marble chhatriyas (cenotaphs) were built to commemorate the Jaipur maharajas from Sawai Jai Singh II onwards. Each chhatri is a masterpiece of craftsmanship — the largest being that of Sawai Jai Singh II, featuring 20 carved pillars and intricate floral and peacock motifs.
