About

Jantar Mantar

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory featuring the world's largest stone sundial and 19 architectural astronomical instruments.

Built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II — an accomplished astronomer — Jantar Mantar was designed to observe celestial positions and predict eclipses. It is one of five such observatories built across India. The instruments remain remarkably accurate and some are still used by astrologers today.
